Lee Iacocca once said that “In times of great stress or adversity, it’s always best to keep busy, to plow your anger and your energy into something positive.” It’s fair to say that in this time of challenge, being on the front lines of the education experience during the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many educators and the administrative staff ‘great stress and great adversity.’
In our COVID-19 Podcast, we had the opportunity to hear Steven Khuong, CEO of Curacubby, and Surya Voinar, Curacubby Education Specialist provide professional solutions for the stress and adversity facing educators everywhere.
They addressed several questions including:

Resource for KTLO (Keeping The Lights On)
One important resource to many educators and administrators is how the CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act)) applies to their business.
According to Stephen, this particular legislation states that if your business is impacted by the Coronavirus and requires the usage of Distance Learning there is one particular section of this mandate to pay careful consideration to, the Paycheck Protection loan.
This provision allows employers to apply for a loan that could cover up to 2.5 times their payroll expenses. In addition, legislation states that the loan could be forgivable when used according to the language of the loan.
Stephen encourages any educator encountering a financial hardship should apply for this loan to survive the COVID-19 crisis. If, however, your school is in a state that is not mandated to Shelter in Place restrictions, here are a few best practices to keep everybody safe:
- Make sure that you are following all of the safety guidelines provided by the CDC
- Stay educated about how the virus is impacting your specific locale
- MOST IMPORTANT - stay in constant contact with all of the families of your school
